Lou Loves to Eat

Louisville Restaurants

Someone once told me that Louisville holds a record for having the most privately owned “mom & pop” style restaurants. Now that may not be the most accurate statistic but nonetheless, I can definitely attest to the sentiment about variety of local eateries around here!

Hidden and bargain gems are scattered throughout the city, each with a very unique atmosphere and taste. Louisville’s Bardstown Road is definitely a prime location to find plenty of the best places. Also on Bardstown Road you can find the whole spectrum of price ranges for whatever level of fancy you’re looking for. Louisville is also likely the most culturally and ethnically diverse cities in the state, which results in many benefits to Louisvillians- one of which would be the variety in types of foods available.

Below are several of Louisville’s top notch choices:

  1. Ramsi’s Café on the World

The atmosphere speaks for itself in this art-laden and cozy venue. Ramsi’s has one of the most inclusive menus I’ve ever seen; featuring organic, allergy conscious and local foods.

I recommend: Chicken Parmesan Panini

  1. Bunz Burgerz

This small join serves it’s burgerz with all the pride possible for their specialty, which is 100% granted. With extensive options for toppings and flavors for the bunz & the fries, it is an easy addiction and totally easy on the wallet.

  1. Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen

This is exactly what it sounds like—heaven. The pies are available by the slice but if you can’t treat yourself to a whole pie then you’re doing something wrong. This place is so good that they have two locations on Bardstown Road, so no matter which way you turn you can always find room for dessert.

  1. Dragon King’s Daughter

If you’re a person who isn’t afraid of the sushi game then this is an ideal place! The only negative is that the menu choices all sound so appetizing that often I find myself ordering way too many rolls in order to try a bit of everything. For those less adventurous types, they also serve tacos & flatbreads.

  1. Kashmir Indian Restaurant

Curries and tandoori dishes are a personal favorite of mine and definitely worth trying out. Fortunately, they are able to customize how spicy you’d like your dish so there are no surprises to set your mouth on fire.

  1. Highland Morning

No foodie list would be complete without a plug for a brunch place. Brunch, being a classic pastime, is always a popular time so this is definitely someplace to carve out time for. Highland Morning serves southern style dishes and uses fresh/local ingredients.
